Hi mate,
There is a bug concerns "Change variable name for component".
I saw u have already reported an issue about "Improve variable name generation" ISSUE 9.
I don't know we are talking about the same issue or not, because there is no description about the issue u reported.
Just from testing, there is a bug.
1) create a visual panel class, then DND another JPanel on it.
2) set the new JPanel's border type as LineBorder.
3) right click on the new Panel, on the context menu, choose the first item "Change variable name".
4) on the prompt dialog, change the name as a new value, then "OK".
5) code generation error!!

There is no swing project.
You should create a java project ,  then create "Visual Swing class"  inside such project.
